Every once in a while we all need a little pick me up and these last few weeks of pregnancy are getting tougher so I took a little lunch time trip to Boots to peruse the beauty counters.
I grabbed myself a few items to help fake that pregnancy radiance everyone keeps talking about but that I’m not really feeling right now.
Soap & Glory Mini Hand Food Hand Cream 50ml: £2.50
It doesn’t seem matter the time of year, my hands are always dry and I use hand cream at least twice a day to keep my skin moisturised. I had previously been using a free tube I was given at Clarins but it’s run out and I certainly can’t afford to be buying it so I’m going back to Soap & Glory. It’s got such a great smell and you only need a tiny bit to do the job so this little tube will last me ages. Small enough to go in my handbag and on my desk at work so it’ll be going everywhere with me.
Ted Baker Pink Mini Body Spray: £3.00
This little guy is just the nicest scent, small enough for my hand bag and perfect for a little freshen up when this summer heat gets me all flustered. Late pregnancy and summer heat wave are not a great mix so this body spray is perfect; just don’t spray it too close to you – it doesn’t taste as good as it smells.

If I’m being honest with myself, I only picked these up because they were on offer but I’m so glad I did. I’m currently wearing ‘Lovey Dovey’ on my toes and it’s such a cute colour. At the moment I’m still having my nails done professionally with Gel or Shellac but that may well be changing once our baby arrives and I can no longer find the time for 2 hour pamper appointments so I’m building back up a little collection of polishes to keep my fingers and toes looking good.
I love love love Rimmel 60 seconds polishes, mostly because I can’t bear having to sit still and wait for polish to dry and I know that once the baby arrives I’ll be lucky to get 60 seconds so this quick drying formula is going to be a must. I haven’t tried the Peachella shade just yet but it’s next one my agenda when I do my toes, not that I can reach my toes anymore with his massive bump so i’ll have to sweat talk the hubby to help me.
Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow: £9.99
My previous Bobbi Brown cream blush was coming to an end and I just can’t justify the price with maternity leave approaching so I’m branching out to try something new. My skin tone is so fair that I can only get away with soft pinky shades so this palette is perfect for me. It’s got a shimmer to it too which really makes my cheeks shine. I’ve used it twice now and I love it.
As a self confessed make up novice I’ve not mastered the highlighting and mixing of the individual shades and have resorted to a blend of all of them at once but it seems to work nicely.
My bump even caught some of the falling shimmer which then set into the stretch mark cream I had applied and I have a lovely glittery bump all day, win win.
Seventeen Powder & Blush Brush: £2.99
I know some of you beauty fans are going to recoil in horror at how little I spent on this brush and I know the importance of buying good quality tools but with my basket already getting pretty full of treats I just couldn’t justify spending much more and a new brush was better than digging out an old dirty one.
It’s pretty good actually, the bristles are soft and the powder applies evenly so I’m so happy with it, and so is my purse.
Here’s a little swatch of the Revlon Highlighting Palette against my skin, some of the shades are very pale on their own but you might just be able to make them out.
So there we have it, that’s my little beauty haul. I love everything I chose and can’t wait to add a few more pieces to my make up collection.
