Second Pregnancy // Help, I Can’t Choose A Pram

My wonderful friends and fellow blog readers, I need your help! I’m really struggling to know what to do about a pram when the new baby comes and I need some advice …

Amelia will be 2 years 4 months when her little sister is born. She walks well but it takes 20 minutes to get to the end of our road, she hates holding hands as she wants to run and be free so going anywhere without a pram can be a nightmare.

For Amelia I bought a Bugaboo Cameleon which I love but it can only be used for 1 child and I just don’t feel like Amelia will be able to cope without a pram by the time her sister is born.

My worst fear is to be out with both of them and Amelia has a meltdown in the street because she’s tired or she wants to nap or be carried home and I’ve only got a single pram with her little sister in it. The thought of being caught out when we go out makes me so anxious that I can’t consider going without a pram.

 

My husband thinks that we should keep our Bugaboo and get a buggy board for Amelia; I’m not convinced. They look flimsy, unsafe and unsupportive to me. I think they’re fine if your child is maybe 3 or 4 and wants to use one for a little while on the school run or just to the park but I can’t imagine how it could be an option for a day out at the zoo or for running endless errands around town.

If you have experience with buggy boards; please let me know.

So, thinking about prams, I love love love the Silver Cross Wave because it allows the new baby to have all of the comfort and attention that Amelia had whilst also allowing Amelia to face the world and enjoy the view.

I love everything about it; the design, the features, the fabric but the downside is the price, at over £1000 it’s a lot of money to spend having only bought the bugaboo 2 years ago.

My concern with the Silver Cross is that I could spend all this money on it and find that 6 months down the line Amelia doesn’t want to sit in the pram at all and she just wants to walk everywhere. I know she won’t be in the pram forever as she gets older and I would be pissed to spend so much on a luxury double to find that I’m only ever using it in single mode (I might have well have kept the Bugaboo)

Then, on the other hand, there are side by side prams that are parent facing and don’t have the travel system options.

A couple that I quite like are the Mamas + Papas Armadillo Twin, the Cosatto Supa Dupa and the Baby Jogger City Mini.

I’m torn with these; they’re world facing only and most of them don’t have a carrycot option so your newborn has to go in the seat when it’s fully reclined; this is my biggest bugbear with them. Obviously, they’re more compact, easier to fold and store and in most cases are (in most cases) considerably cheaper.

So then, here’s how my head is whirring away… do I stump up and get the luxury pram that I know I love? Or do I choose a side by side pram that I can use whilst both children still need to be in a pram but keep my Bugaboo so that once Amelia reaches an age where she doesn’t need the pram, I can go back to it and get my money’s worth using it for her sister.

Oh my poor head, I never thought it would be this difficult to know what to do for the best, if only prams weren’t so expensive. I know there are a thousand things more important to be worried about and if this is my only cause of stress at the moment then I’m very lucky but I just don’t seem to be able to make a decision so please leave me a comment or send a message if you have any tips, advice or similar experience.
