February Favourites

March 8, 2017

It’s that time of the month again guys. February was a strange month for me, it dawned on me that my maternity leave isn’t going to last forever. It felt like I had ages in January and now all of a sudden it feels like July is right around the corner.

Before February is completely swallowed up by March, let me run you through my favourites from last month.

Fresh Flowers

I love love love having a vase of fresh flowers in my living room or on the dining table. I think they completely brighten up a room and when it’s grey and miserable outside that is exactly what you need. My ultimate favourite flowers are tulips, I just love the simplicity of them and the range of colours they come in.

They don’t break the bank either, you can pick up a bunch in the supermarket for £2 and they always last at least a week, they’ve become a staple of my weekly shop.

Slimming World

I won’t go on too much about this as I’ve mentioned it so much in my other posts but I am so glad I took the leap and joined up with a new SW group. For weeks and weeks I put it off saying it was too difficult to do it with a baby but in reality I was just being a bit lazy and was enjoying my crisps and chocolate a bit too much to give it up.

Now that I’ve joined and got my head in the game I’m really enjoying making proper home cooked meals again and finding new things to try, there is enough time with a baby it’s all about being organised and actually wanting to do it.

Accessorize

Basically the whole store, I went in a couple of weeks ago and there were so many things I liked I could have bought half the shop. I didn’t! I particularly love their scarves and their sterling silver collection. I have quite sensitive skin when it comes to costume jewellery and for things like rings I will only ever buy from their sterling silver range otherwise my skins turns green.

I did see a pair of earrings I loved but they were slightly dangly and I just know Amelia would pull them out of my ears and that is not a game I want to play, instead I treated myself to a little leaf shaped ring. I love it!

Oh yeah, if you see walking towards Accessorize, pull me back. I can’t be responsible for what I spend in there.

Having my hair cut and coloured

Oh the joys of a little pampering, as you know my hair has been falling out like there’s no tomorrow and my roots hadn’t been touched since before Amelia was born so they were looking pretty grim too. At the end of Feb I booked in to have my hair coloured, cut and blow dried. It was fabulous and my hair is in such better condition now. It even feels likes it’s not falling out so much.

I feel so much better with my roots done and my hair back to it’s normal colour with highlights that totally brighten up my dull post baby skin and baggy eyes, thank goodness for the hairdressing fairy god mothers.

Ugg Slippers

Since being at home I have been going through slippers like nobody’s business. I’ve always bought my slippers from Next and they’ve always been fine but I think I have been wearing them so much that they’ve just not been up to the job.

Rather than just keep buying more I opted to treat myself (as an early birthday gift) to a pair of proper Ugg slippers. I’ve gone for a loafer style as opposed to a slip on because I am always worried about them falling off my feet when going up and down the stairs carrying Amelia.

I chose a black pair with grey fur inside and they are so incredibly warm and comfy I don’t know why I didn’t buy them years ago. I always thought they were so expensive and couldn’t possibly justify so much money on slippers but you really do get what you pay for. I love them and I’m expecting them to last a long time just like my Ugg boots that I’ve had for about 5 years.

There we go, another month gone by. I’m really looking forward to March, it’s my birthday month and my first ever Mother’s Day!

Rachel xx
