For as long as I can remember it has been my dream to have my own jewellery business. If you asked me what I would do if I won the lottery my answer would be ‘open my own jewellery shop’. I wouldn’t even have to think about it.
So, after 18 months of a global pandemic and almost 2 years as a stay at home mum I made the decision to jump in with both feet and launch Atilaya Sorelle. I’m a jewellery business owner! Can you even believe it, dreams do come true.
Atilaya is a combination of letters from my girl’s first names; Amelia and Taya and Sorelle means sisters in Italian. It felt like a beautiful way to honour my children and to remind me that everything I do is for them ultimately.
This business, the creative outlet and the community I’ve been building around it have relit a fire in me, a fire that had been dimmed by motherhood. Being a stay at home mum is a privilege but it is also very draining and it’s too easy to lose yourself and to forget the things that made you so happy before you had children.
I’ve found so much passion for creating and designing jewellery but I’ve also learnt huge lessons surrounding wellness and mental health whilst on this journey. I’ve rediscovered the magic of crystals and the healing benefits they can provide (more on this in another post soon) and increased my knowledge on using essential oils to improve wellness (more on this soon too).
What started with little beaded friendship style bracelets has grown into a wellness business; my jewellery lines have evolved over the last year and now features crystals, rings, sterling silver pieces and handmade necklaces and I’ve been so blessed to introduce new products like essential oil wellness rollers and my more recent addition of macrame gifts too.
Anyone who owns a small business or works for themselves will likely know exactly what I mean when I say this isn’t a job at all; its my passion, it consumes my thoughts and all spare time I can find but I wouldn’t change a thing.
