Eating Out

Afternoon Tea at the Botley Grange Hotel

July 6, 2017

One of my best friends is getting married this month (eek I can’t believe it’s time already) and to celebrate for her hen party we went for afternoon tea at a local hotel and spa.

It was such a lovely afternoon, we had a private room and her sister had even arranged for us to received glittery prosecco when we arrived. I didn’t even know you make glittery prosecco but it was so cute we almost didn’t want to drink it. Well I didn’t cause I don’t drink but I gave my glass away after snapping a photo of its prettiness.

There was an abundance of food, I mean so much food. We had plates of sandwiches, baskets of scones, tubs of clotted cream and jam and don’t even get me started on the tiers of cakes. So many cakes. I think we had lemon drizzle, bakewell, orange, millionaire shortbread and probably some more but there’s only so much cake you eat right?

In true hen party tradition we played a little game called Polish or Porn, if you’re in need of a hen party game look this one up it was great. You simply have to guess if the phrase read out is the name of a nail polish or the title of a porn film. It’s actually not as easy as you might think, nail polish names are dodgy af.

I didn’t do too well, 7/16 but I was in good company, at least 5 others all got the same result. Guess we need to brush up on our polish knowledge.

We also played a version of Mr & Mrs where the hen had to answer questions already answered by her fiancé, we had a good laugh at her expense but she didn’t score too highly on that one either. We kindly suggested they might want to sit down and make sure they actually know each other before the big day.

It was such a lovely afternoon, I wore my new Next maxi dress and I actually did my hair (no mum bun here) and I felt lovely, it made me feel a little more confident that I can do something nice with my hair for her wedding day.

I would definitely recommend the Botley Grange Hotel for afternoon tea if anyone is looking for a location in Hampshire, it’s such a beautiful hotel and the staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Rachel xx
