February Favourites

March 5, 2018

It feels like it’s only just been the end of January but we’re already into March; not that the weather would make you think so. Anyone else totally sick of talking about weather now? I know us Brits love the topic but all this uncertainty about snow and ice and travel, it’s exhausting. Not to mention I’d love to go outside without a million layers under my ‘big’ coat.

Ah well, let’s hope Spring is soon upon us and we can all enjoy some warmer days and a little sunshine.

Here are my favourite things about February:

Celebrations and going out-out

You might have seen from my Instagram feed that I’ve been going out a lot lately, this isn’t normal for me at all but it just so happens that lots of hen parties, 30th birthdays and weddings have all fallen within 6 weeks of each other so it means lots of dressing up and showing up even when I’ve been super tired and felt like I have nothing to wear.

It’s been so lovely to go though, not that I don’t miss my little poppet when I’m out but she has been in bed by the time I left anyway but it’s just been so lovely to hang out with friends, laugh, chat and eat some delicious food. I still have a couple of celebrations to go as we enter into March but once Mother’s Day is passed, it’ll probably be months before I go out again.

Amelia’s first shoes

There’s nothing like putting your baby into proper walking shoes that suddenly makes them look like a teenager, it feels like ages since we bought these shoes for her but it was only at the beginning of the month and she has been walking so much better since we got them.

She even runs a little now, mostly because she’s excited and gets a bit carried away with herself but it’s super cute and I’m sure it’s her confidence growing from her new shoes. I shared a blog post about our buying experience if you want to check it out.

Decluttering the house

There’s something so satisfying about getting rid of things isn’t there, or maybe it’s more that there’s something so suffocating about having stuff everywhere and that’s how it was starting to feel in our house. Just so much stuff, in every nook and cranny that we couldn’t buy a single thing more because there was no where to put it.

One day I just couldn’t take it anymore and we spend hours sorting through the house; donating bags of clothes to charity, taking rubbish to the dump and tidying up and finding new homes for things. It’s so therapeutic and I’m so glad we took the time to get it done, even if it did feel daunting at the time.

Coverall phone case

Toddlers have a lot to answer for don’t they, my phone was pretty well protected in the Apple case I had for it, except that the bottom on uncovered. So which side should it land when Amelia dropped it, on the bottom of course. The damage isn’t much, just a tiny scratch but it made me aware of the vulnrabilty so I ordered myself a case that covers everything.

I found this one on Amazon and to be honest I chose it because it looks like the one Mrs Meldrum has and I loved it when I saw it in one of her Youtube videos. I’m sad like that but I really liked it and this was the closed match I could find online, it came from China but actually came really quickly and it feels really protective, fingers crossed for no more damages.

Canon EOS M6 Camera

This is a biggie this month, technically this is my birthday present and my birthday isn’t until the end of the week but it was on offer a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t want to miss out on a good price so we bought it and I’ve been practicing with it because photography is super hard.

It’s like learning a new language which I still don’t understand but I am loving the photos and videos I’ve been able to take with this camera. The photos for my blog especially are amazing, for that alone I’m so glad I chose this camera.

I’m hoping that as I get better with it and learn how to use it more I’ll be able to use it for more videos on my Youtube channel but for now I’m getting to grips with it and I feel like a proper blogger with my proper camera.

March is going to be a special for me with my 30th birthday coming up in a few days and I’m sure I’ll share a few posts about what we get up to to celebrate, thanks for checking out this month’s favourites. Let me know in the comments if there is anything you would like to see on the blog over the next few weeks, I’m always looking for new ideas and inspiration.

Rachel xx
