Father’s Day at The Plough Inn

June 23, 2016

It was Father’s Day on June 19th and we had two Daddies to celebrate with this year. My Dad’s 29th Father’s Day and Kevin’s 1st Father-to-be Day.

I must admit I got a little excited about it and bought Kev a card from the bump, it’s just too cute and I couldn’t resist. I can’t wait till next year when we will actually have a little baby and Kev can have a proper 1st Father’s Day.

It’s a bit of a tradition in our family to go out for dinner on Father’s Day but since my parents have lived in the same town for 35 years we’ve pretty much been everywhere and were looking for somewhere new to try.

We discovered The Plough Inn, a little country pub in a tiny village outside Winchester. The reviews were amazing and it just looked so pretty we decided to give it a try.

Oh My! It was wonderful, an old coach house that used to be owned by the local Lainston estate back in the 1800’s, it still had the original stone outhouses and was surrounded by farmland, we even saw some bunnies running around.

The menu was incredible, there was so much choice and it was all so good. I’ve often found that the larger the menu the worse quality the food, less is always more but not in this case. Every dish was perfect, we all had different meals and every single plate was clean.

Beef Bourguignon

Sirloin Steak

Steak & Cheese Burger

Chocolate Brownie

If you’re in Hampshire and haven’t been to The Plough Inn, you must visit! It was worth the drive down the single track country lane in the rain to get there. I would recommend it to anyone!

We had a great time!
