All The Fun Of The Farm

April 5, 2017

Spring is in full bloom down here on the south coast and it was a gloriously sun shiny day today, so to make the most of the weather we teamed up with our good friends Hannah and her baby girl Zeffie, packed two prams, two car seats and enough baby stuff for a two week holiday in the car and took ourselves to the farm.

It’s the first proper outing I’ve taken Amelia on, we’ve been out and about around town but this is the first time I’ve actually taken her to an attraction. I think she very much enjoyed herself, although still a little young to fully appreciate it she did get the chance to touch a baby chick and stroke a bunny.

She saw guinea pigs, actual pigs, cows, goats, ducks, chickens, donkeys, all the sights and sounds (and smells) of the farmyard. I also had the pleasure of feeding some adult goats who all hustled each other for a place at the feeding tray and we had our first experience in a play park.

Perhaps emboldened by Zeffie’s squeals of delight Amelia had her first try on the baby swings, she was so unsure for a couple of minutes. She wouldn’t look at me, and seemed to be clinging on for dear life but then like a ray of sunshine she beamed. The biggest smiles on her face and she laughed. Only three times in her life has she laughed for me and I might have had a little cry in the park surrounded by screaming and cheering children all enjoying the sun.

We had such a lovely day and the little ones were so captivated by all the animals and people around to look at that neither of them had a proper nap, and after a lovely bubble bath this evening to wash away the sun cream my darling girl is tucked up in bed, perhaps dreaming of all the little animals she met today.
